In the context of the parliamentary dimension of the Romanian Presidency to the Council of the European Union, the Committees for Foreign Affairs and the Committees for Defence, Public Order and National Security of the Senate and of the Chamber of Deputies will organize, together with the European Parliamentߴs Committee on Foreign Affairs, on 7th and 8th of March 2019, the XIVth Inter-Parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CFSP/CSDP).
This Inter-Parliamentary Conference will assure the platform for the exchange of information and good practices between the relevant committees from the national parliaments of the EU member states which activates in the foreign affairs, security and defence domain, the Foreign Affairs Committee from the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European External Action Service.
The Conference agenda propose to cover, in plenary sessions, a series of important topics regarding CFSP/CSDP, such as the strategic importance of the Black Sea on the EU agenda, The Eastern Partnership, the cooperation and financing instruments developed under CFSP and the EU commitment to the Western Balkans.
The workshops are structured in order to respond to the recent concerns of the Member States regarding the Future of the CFSP/CSDP from BREXIT perspective, EU Strategy for the Danube Region, Military mobility, the Cyber Security and the Hybrid Warfare.
300 delegates from EU Member States, from the European Parliament, as well as representatives of the candidate States and representatives of some embassies will attend this Conference.
The meeting will be co-chaired by Mr. Cristian-Sorin Dumitrescu, chairman of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the Senate – Romanian chief of delegation, and Mr. Ioan Mircea Pașcu, vice-president of the European Parliament, president of the European Parliament’s delegation to the conference proceedings.
At the conclusion of the CFSP/CSDP Inter-Parliamentary Conference, the two co-chairmans will present a joint declaration regarding the foreign affairs and security issues debated.
