The Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the European Union provides an appropriate framework for debates and exchange of pieces of information and best practices in relation to the implementation of the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union (TSCG).
The main purpose of the meeting is to strengthen the cooperation among national parliaments and the European Parliament, as well as to increase the democratic accountability of governance in the field of economic and budgetary policies of the EU, especially in respect to the Economic and Monetary Union, taking into account its social aspects and without prejudice to the competences of national parliaments.
According to the Rules of Procedure of the Conference, the event takes place twice a year, in coordination with the cycle of the European Semester. In the first half of the year the event is hosted and co-chaired by European Parliament, in the second half of the year the meeting is hosted and chaired by the member state holding the presidency.
In the first semester of 2019, the Conference will take place at European Parliament, within the framework of the European Parliamentary Week (EPW).
