Interparliamentary meeting dedicated to the Common Agricultural Policy and the Cohesion Policy – on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Palace of Parliament

The Chamber of Deputies is to hold, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Interparliamentary meeting dedicated to the Common Agricultural Policy and the Cohesion Policy, in the context of the parliamentary dimension of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

According to a press release of the Chamber of Deputies, the event will be an opportunity to exchange opinions with members of national parliaments in the EU concerning budgetary resources that the future Common Agricultural Policy will rely on and the manner of allocation thereof, the degree of implementation in Europe of new technologies used in agriculture, as well as the future of macro-regional strategies. In addition, the agenda will include debate on support given to small farmers.

The Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture, Forestry, Food Industry and Specific Services of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Alexandru Stănescu, will host several working sessions during the programme and will present the conclusions of the meeting. Furthermore, the debate sessions will also be hosted by the Chairman of the Committee for Public Administration and Territorial Planning of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Florin Roman, and the Vice-Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture, Food Industry and Rural Development of the Senate, Mr. Tanczos Barna.

In the opening of the meeting, Chairman of the Senate, Mr. Călin Popescuā€‘Tăriceanu, and Vice-Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Florin Iordache, will give short speeches.

The officials to speak during the sessions of the meeting include the Minister of Public Finance, Mr. Eugen Teodorovici, Secretaries of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of European Funds, representatives of the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as representatives of renowned organisations involved in the agricultural sector.
