Dorel-Gheorghe CĂPRAR is a second term Member of the Romanian Parliament and starting with 2017 he is the Chairman of the Committee for Defense, Public Order and National Security of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies. From this position, Dorel Căprar has opened several coordinates of dialogue with homologue committees and multiple partners, putting his efforts into strengthening ties among legislative and executive institutions within the security sector and intensifying the international agenda of the committee.
Starting June 2017 he is also a member of the Joint Standing Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for the exercise of parliamentary control over the activity of the Foreign Intelligent Service.
From 2012 to 2016 he was a member of several permanent committees, at first the Committee on Human Rights, Cults and Problems of National Minorities until 2014, serving as a Secretary of the Committee of European Affairs from March 2015 and later becoming a member of the National Defense, Public Order and National Security Committee of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies.
Dorel Căprar is also a former Judo Champion and martial arts expert, being involved a lot in the modern rebirth of the Romanian Judo movement. He serves as vice-president of the Romanian Judo Federation and is an active promoter of this noble sport in the Romanian society.
