Angel Tîlvăr is the Chair of the Committee on European Affairs of Chamber of Deputies.
He is member of the Parliamentary Group of the Social Democrat Party.
Mr.Tîlvăr is in his fourth term in the Parliament of Romania. His path in parliamentarian activity began in 2004 when he was elected a senator in the Romanian Senate, followed by three mandates as a deputy in Chamber of Deputies.
In the Chamber of Deputies he has held several leading positions: Chairman of the Committee for Education, Science, Youth and Sports (December 2012 - September 2014) and Chairman of the European Affairs Committee (September-December 2014). In the Romanian Parliament he was also a member of the Committee on Human Rights, Cults and National Minorities, the Committee for Defense, Public Order and National Security, the Committee for Culture, Arts and Mass Media and the Committee for Education.
He is also a member of the Romanian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO PA).
Through his entire parliamentary activity Angel Tîlvăr advocates the important role of the Romanian Parliamentary Diplomacy in achieving the objectives in support of NATO priorities and for consolidation of the European process.
From December 2014 to November 2015 he was appointed to the position of Minister Delegate for Relations with Romanians Abroad.
Since 2014 Angel Tîlvăr has been the Coordinator of the Parliamentary Group for Fighting against Human Trafficking. Under his mandate, high level conferences on fighting and preventing the human trafficking were organized. He is actively involved in finding solutions to reduce the scale of the phenomenon in our country, the mechanisms to be put in place and the actions taken by the Romanian state in order to prevent and combat this phenomenon. He also coordinates the Report on Fighting against Human Trafficking that is released on regular basis in the Romanian Parliament.From December 2014 to November 2015 he was appointed to the position of Minister Delegate for Relations with Romanians Abroad.
Prior to his career in politics, between 1985 and 2004 Angel Tîlvăr had a teaching career close to two decades.
In addition to studying foreign languages and pedagogy, he also completed a masterߴs degree program in Political Sciences. Angel Tîlvăr holds a PhD in Humanities-International Relations and History.
